Information we collect

When you use the quiz, we may collect your quiz answers, matched breed, an anonymous browser identifier, community-poll selection, and interaction events such as a page visit, quiz start, question reached, quiz completion, checkout start, report opening, and clicks on Amazon referral product links. These events help us understand aggregate preferences and the overall conversion funnel without attaching general quiz or poll activity to your name or email. If you choose to save your email during the quiz, we store it with your anonymous quiz-session identifier and mark the match as in progress; this does not subscribe you to marketing. If you request a free match summary, we collect your email address, matched breed, anonymous visitor identifier, delivery status, and whether you separately consented to occasional marketing. If you purchase a report, we receive the checkout session identifier, selected breed, report answers, payment status, amount, currency, timestamps, and the email address returned by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number.

If you contact us, we collect the name you choose to provide, your email address, the topic, your message, and a support confirmation identifier.

How we use information

We use this information to calculate and display matches, send requested match summaries, tally anonymous match trends, measure summary-to-purchase conversion, create and recover purchased reports, verify payments, answer support and privacy requests, prevent misuse, and operate and improve the service. To protect forms and resource-intensive features from automated abuse, we temporarily store request counters keyed to a one-way hash derived from limited network and browser information. These counters are not used for advertising or to identify you and expire after their security window. We send promotional cat-care tips or offers only when the separate optional consent box is selected. You can withdraw that consent through the contact form.

Service providers and outside links

Stripe processes checkout and payment information under its own privacy policy. Our hosting and database providers process site and stored data for us. Resend processes email addresses and message data so we can deliver requested summaries and purchased reports. Amazon and other merchants receive information directly from your browser when you follow an affiliate link; their policies govern that interaction.

We do not sell personal information. Advertising providers may process browser or device information as described below.

Advertising, cookies, and Google

Catbreed uses Google AdSense on selected editorial pages. Google and its partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, or other identifiers to deliver, limit, measure, and improve ads. Depending on your region, consent choices, and account settings, ads may be contextual or personalized using visits to this and other websites.

Third-party vendors, including Google, may place and read cookies in your browser or use web beacons to collect information as a result of ad serving. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, manage personalized advertising in My Ad Center, and review additional opt-out choices at AboutAds. Where required, Catbreed uses Google’s certified consent platform to request permission before using advertising cookies or personalized advertising. The “Privacy & cookie settings” control in the footer lets eligible visitors review or change those choices.

Browser storage and report links

Catbreed uses browser storage to remember quiz progress, a random visitor identifier, and a purchased report link on your device. A purchased report URL functions like a private access key. Anyone who receives the complete link may be able to open the report, so keep it private.

Retention, security, and choices

We retain purchase records as needed to deliver reports and meet fraud, accounting, and legal obligations. Support requests are kept as needed to resolve the request and document the response. Aggregated quiz records may be retained to calculate match trends. Short-lived security counters are automatically removed after they are no longer useful for abuse prevention. We use reasonable safeguards, including request-size limits, origin checks, rate limits, bot-trap fields, signed payment notifications, and idempotent email delivery, but no online system is completely secure.

You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information by using the contact form. We may need to verify your identity. Some records may be retained where required by law or necessary to protect the service.

Children and changes

The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. We may update this policy as the service changes; the effective date above will show the latest revision.
